Example of a Home Network

Here we see a Keystone blank patch panel in a SOHO application. Four (4) 100 foot Pre-terminated cables are run to computer locations throughout the home and are plugged into Cat 5E Feed-thru couplers in the back coupled to 3 foot patch cables which connect to the router ports. The co-axial broadband connection reaches the cable modem through the keystone Co-ax 'F' coupler and co-axial cable.

Cat 5 E Feed-Thru couplers and Flush Wallplates are used at the individual computer locations. The coupler enables you to connect a pre-terminated cable to a flush wallplate. The example on the right shows the back of the wallplate (normally faces the inside of the wall) with a Cat 5E 100 foot pre-terminated cable. The photo on the left illustrates how the coupler joins two cables together (the wallplate was removed so as to show both cables). Another patch cable (usually 10 or 14 foot) is used to bring the connection from the wallplate to the computer.
