Coaxial RF adapters maintain the shielding of the coaxial cable, and are designed to work with radio frequencies. The fastening mechanism allows for high mating cycles and a reduction in the insertion force. In todays standard, ultra high frequencies are frequencies between 300 MHz and 3 GHz.
The N style coax connector is a medium sized RF connector which is threaded and weatherproof. It was one of the first connectors to carry microwave- frequency signals up to 14 GHz, but todays N connectors handles frequencies up to 11 GHz. The interface specifications for the N and many other connectors are referenced in MIL-STD-348
The QMA RF Coaxial connector is similar in function to the SMA and Type N connectors, but it features a 360-degree rotating snap-on locking interface. This makes the QMA connector quick to install while having the same performance characteristics and mechanical durability. This design also saves time because it allows for quick mating and demating without tools. To make cable routing easier, it can rotate 360 degrees after installation, and its smaller overall size can save the operating space and allows for high density applications.
