Unterminated Fiber By The Foot
Product Overview
QuickTreX® Indoor/Outdoor Pre-Terminated Fiber Optic Assemblies are perfect for connecting the networks of two buildings through the use of an underground conduit. This fiber is suitable for Indoor and Outdoor use, so there is no 50 foot fire code requirement traditionally found with Outdoor cable. The Indoor/Outdoor cable has a water blocking aramid yarn strength member surrounding the fiber optic strands to protect from situations where light water infiltration may exist like in an under ground conduit or also in an Indoor situation where the assembly may be exposed to a damp or moist environment.
QuickTreX® brand, custom Pre-Terminated Fiber Optic Assemblies have a longstanding reputation for quality and reliability. When we receive your custom order, we build the assembly to your specifications using the finest materials to our exacting standards. The assembly is made in the USA by skilled technicians under controlled conditions and comes to you fully tested and ready for immediate installation.
Standard QuickTreX® Micro-Distribution Features:
All Pre-Terminated Micro-Distribution Assemblies will be custom made at the time of your order, built with Corning® fiber and premium components to your specifications.
All micro-distribution assemblies will be constructed using 12 strand grouped breakouts. Each strand will be reinforced with 2mm furcation tubing which helps ruggedize each strand and help protect it during installation. Each strand will Include a sequential numerical label. Each 12 strand breakout kit will also be sequentially labeled to help identify each strand on opposite ends of your assembly.
The buffer tubes will be securely fastened to each 12 strand breakout kit using high strength adhesive type heat shrink tubing.
The first main breakout will be 12 inches from the main jacket and each group of 12 strands will include a 36" breakout. The main 12 inch breakouts kits will include a 6" stagger.
The connectors itself will also be staggered to minimize the size of the pulling basket which will be approximately 1".
One wrap around label will be attached to each end of the cable assembly for identification. The label text includes the cable part number and a unique serialized number.
Pulling Eyes (pulling baskets), if equipped are made from super strong polyethylene mesh and feature a free-spinning buckle to eliminate twisting of the cable during the pull.
Heat shrink tubing will be used at:
The transition from the buffer tubes to the cable jacket.
The transition of each 12 strand inner cable to the breakout kit
Where the basket meets with the turn buckle (pull eye hook)
Where the basket ends and connects with the cables jacket
Micro-Distribution Features:
Perfect for High Density Infrastructures
Saves Space in Data Racks, Cabinets, and Closets
Constructed of the highest quality materials
Made to exacting industry standards
Tested to meet or exceed EIA/TIA 568/ GR-409-CORE
All aramid tensile strength members within sub-units
Smaller cable diameter & more flexibility
Applications Include:
Headend Termination to a fiber "backbone"
Termination of fiber rack systems
Multi-floor deployment where select fibers are used at each floor
Intra-building "backbones"
Indoor/Outdoor Installation Information:
Best Suited for: Indoor/Outdoor cables are approved for use in underground conduits, even if the possibility of water infiltration exists due to its water blocking aramid strength members. It can also be used for standard Outdoor applications since it is UV resistant, but it is not rated for direct burial (see Outdoor Fiber).
The advantage of using Indoor/Outdoor over standard Outdoor cable is that it does not have the 50 foot restriction for indoor installation that standard outdoor cable has. This cable has an overall PVC sheath and is not rated for plenum spaces. It has a durable jacket that adds extra protection during installation and in rugged applications.
* Plenum rated Indoor/Outdoor jacket can be used upon request.
Strand Count Breakdown & Rationale
Choosing the right strand count is essential for building an efficient and cost-effective network. 1 to 2 strands are ideal for simple, point-to-point connections in small setups. 4 to 24 strands provide scalability for organizations with growing data needs, such as multi-floor offices or moderate campus networks. For strand counts above 36, subunitized designs enhance manageability in high-density configurations like data centers or metro-area networks. These higher strands, including 96 and 144, serve as the backbone for large campuses or cross-regional networks, offering unparalleled capacity and reliability while supporting intricate segmentation and extended scalability.
Typical Applications by Industry
Telecommunications: Provides uninterrupted long-distance connectivity for backbone and access networks.
Data Centers: Enables consistent, high-speed connections between servers, racks, and switches.
Educational Institutions: Powers campus-wide networks for classrooms, labs, and administrative operations.
Healthcare Facilities: Handles secure and stable connectivity for medical imaging, diagnostics, and telehealth systems.
Government and Enterprise: Supports large-scale data transmission with enhanced security for mission-critical environments.
Industrial Automation: Delivers robust data links for IoT-enabled systems and manufacturing operations in adverse environments.
Specifications in Depth
These assemblies feature Singlemode Ultra 9/125 Corning® SMF-28® fiber, optimized for demanding, long-distance applications.

Testing
Every assembly undergoes rigorous Insertion Loss (IL ≤ 0.2dB) and Return Loss (RL ≥ -55dB) testing, ensuring top performance in environments with operating temperatures from -40°C to +70°C.
Why 36-Strand is the Best Fit for These Applications
The 36-strand assembly is subunitized, making it optimized for high-density networks in environments such as data centers or telecommunications hubs. Its design ensures easier cable management while supporting massive data transfer loads. This strand count enables seamless integration between systems, balancing current capacity with room for substantial growth.
Compared to 24-strand cables, the 36-strand assembly introduces unparalleled flexibility for densely populated infrastructures while maintaining an organized deployment. Higher strand counts like 48 or 72 cater to larger-scale systems, but the 36-strand remains a practical solution for sizable yet focused operations.
Ideal for professional-grade projects, this assembly guarantees scalability and efficiency in expanding data ecosystems.
