A BNC connector (also known and a Bayonet Nut Coupling) is a commonly used RF connector for networking applications that required a tight connection. BNC connectors are used to connect a variety of different coaxial cable types, and after the plug is inserted, it is turned causing pins in the socket to be pinched into a locking groove on the plug. These connectors are usually applied for frequencies below 4 GHz and voltages below 500 volts. The interface specifications for the BNC and many other connectors are referenced in MIL-STD-348.
