888-568-1230A common question we receive is: How do you use a fiber-optic termination box?
We recommend using a termination box if you’re ordering an assembly with more than two strands.
It helps keep your connectors free from contamination and dust, while also keeping your assembly neat and organized.
Check out this video walk through showing one of our termination boxes
In this example. We have one side with a two-panel rack-mount termination box. It features a swing-out design, making it easy to access your assembly. You’ll bring your assembly in through the back and plug it into an adapter panel. We offer a wide variety of adapter panels on our site.
In this example, this panel is an SC/ST adapter panel. Your assembly plugs into the back, and you patch out through the front to connect to your equipment or whatever you're interfacing with.
On the other side, we have a two-panel wall-mount termination box. Your assembly can enter through either the top or bottom. Inside, you’ll have space to neatly coil your assembly, keeping it organized.
Like with the rack-mount box, you’ll plug into an adapter panel and patch out to your equipment or any other connection.

Depending on your specific requirements, you might consider the following products:
Let’s go in further depth on these products and how they help with your termination box set up.
Rack-Mount Termination Boxes: Available in various configurations, such as 2-panel, 3-panel, 4-panel, 6-panel, and 12-panel options. We offer both swing-out door and slide-out door styles to suit different installation preferences.
Wall-Mount Termination Boxes: Designed for secure fiber terminations in compact spaces, these enclosures are ideal for interconnectivity and splicing of optical fibers.
Adapter Panels: We provide a wide range of adapter panels compatible with our termination boxes, including options for different connector types like SC, ST, LC, and more.
Fiber Optic Splice Trays: Essential for organizing and protecting spliced fibers within your termination box.
Choosing between a rack-mount and a wall-mount termination box depends on your installation environment and space considerations.
Rack-Mount Termination Boxes are designed to fit into standard 19-inch equipment racks, making them ideal for data centers or telecommunications rooms where space is at a premium.
They offer higher port density and are suitable for larger installations.
For example, our Lightweight Aluminum 2 Panel (1U) Rack Mount Termination Box is made from 18-gauge aluminum, providing durability while being easy to handle during installation.
Wall-Mount Termination Boxes, on the other hand, are designed to be mounted on walls or other flat surfaces, making them suitable for smaller installations or areas without equipment racks.
They are ideal for securing fiber terminations in tight spaces.
Our Heavy Duty Steel 1 Panel Wall Mount Fiber Optic Enclosure is perfect for pre-terminated fiber optic assemblies or for fiber optic splicing.
